YELE MALLAPPA SHETTY LAKE, located in the north-eastern part of Bangalore, was built by a philanthropist. A rich merchant in Bangalore named Yelle Mallappa Shetty, came up with the idea in the year 1890, the year which was followed by water scarcity. The then lifeline for the people is now just a park who doesn’t even know its history. It provided water during the water scarcity. But now, residents are literally cursing for the pollution caused by the lake. Initially it was built across 300 acres which now hit down to 260 acres.
